About a month ago we booked our next show at Rack’s Bar and Grill. November 9, 2018. Show starts at 9:00pm, as always.
The show is on the books, but we are unsure whether or not it is going to happen. Back on September 15th Rich, the owner of Rack’s, posted this on Facebook:
Donahue’s Fish Market caught fire just as we were closing Rack’s. I smelt smoke and then it stated coming up threw the floor in my kitchen! Thank you Plaistow fire and surrounding towns that quickly put out the fire. Unfortunately Rack’s will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. There is only smoke damage to us. We will restore the bar as quickly as possible. No one was hurt except for the lobsters downstairs.
Click the link. There is video. It’s not fun to watch (I’m pretty sure it’s public, so you should be able to see it even if you’re not on Facebook).
For a little more info, here is a Union Leader article that talks about what happened. The owner of Donahue’s says they are rebuilding but don’t know how long it will take.
So what does this mean for us? Kevin got in touch with Rich recently to ask if we should plan on doing the show or not. Rich didn’t say much, but he did say not to cancel yet. I am going to take that as a positive. We’ll see how it goes. As October rolls on we will hopefully get more information and we’ll pass it along, both here and on Facebook.
In other, totally unrelated, news, a couple of weeks ago Mike hosted a cookout. We used it as an excuse to have a sort of open practice. A bunch of friends hung out with us in the cellar while we hacked our way through a bunch of tunes. We were able to record the whole thing. The recording isn’t perfect. It’s far from perfect. It’s thousands of astronomical units away from being perfect. But, it’s the best sounding recording we’ve made so far, and Kevin has actually started using it to try to get us some gigs at new places. We’ll let you all know how that goes, but for now here are the highlights of our non-perfect recording. Enjoy!
